Deferasirox oral granules are indicated for the treatment of chronic iron overload due to blood transfusions (transfusional hemosiderosis) in patients 2 years of age and older. Deferasirox was developed by Novartis and was approved by FDA on November 2, 2005, then approved by EMA on August 26, 2006, and approved by Japan PMDA on April 16, 2008. In June 2010, it was listed in the first batch in China. The drug is currently on the market in more than 80 countries.
