This product is used to relieve the symptoms of frequent urination, urgency and urinary incontinence caused by overactive bladder. It is a competitive M choline receptor blocker. Animal test results suggest that this product is more selective for the bladder than salivary glands, but it has not been clinically confirmed. In addition, after oral administration, this product is metabolized by the liver into the active metabolite 5-hydroxymethyl derivative, which plays a major pharmacological effect, and its anticholinergic activity is similar to this product. Both have high selectivity for M choline receptors, and have weak effects or affinity for receptors of other neurotransmitters and potential cellular targets (such as calcium channels).
