Avibactam sodium is a compound of diazabicyclooctanone, which has no obvious antibacterial activity, but it can inhibit type A (including ESBL and KPC) and type C β-lactamase. Therefore, when used in combination with various cephalosporins and carbapenem antibiotics, it has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and is currently the most promising new β-lactamase inhibitor. Compared with the three marketed β-lactamase inhibitors, it has long-acting and reversible covalent binding to the enzyme, and does not induce β-lactamase production. Ceftazidime Avibactam sodium for injection was granted and approved Qualified New Antibiotics (QIDP) in the United States in 2015 and approved in the European Union in 2016. Up to now, it has been approved for listing in more than 40 countries and regions around the world.
