It is an antiemetic drug with a new mechanism of action developed by Merck in the United States. It is also the first neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor blocker approved by the US FDA in 2003. Receptors (mainly in the central nervous system and its periphery) bind to block the effects of substance P. This product can pass through the blood-brain barrier and occupy the NK-1 receptor in the brain, with selectivity and high affinity, but low affinity for NK-2 and NK-3 receptors. At the same time, this product has a low affinity for other drugs used to treat chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting symptoms (such as dopamine receptors, 5-HT receptors), and its effect on reducing nausea and vomiting is better than other drugs.
