Micuronium was developed by Abbott and was first listed in the United States in 1992. Because of its unique advantages such as quick onset and short action time, it is often used for tracheal intubation and surgery to maintain muscle relaxation. The mechanism of action of micuronium is to bind to the N2 choline receptor of the motor endplate membrane, but after binding they cannot produce depolarization by themselves, and because it competes with acetylcholine for the same receptor, it can prevent nerve impulses. The released acetylcholine causes depolarization of the motor endplate membrane, resulting in relaxation of skeletal muscles. Micuronium is the muscle relaxant with the shortest action time found so far. It is only 1/3-1/2 of cis-atracurium and vecuronium. It can be used in various short operations and ENT surgery As well as outpatient surgery, it has obvious advantages and better clinical prospects. Compared with succinylcholine, micuronium chloride has a smaller effect on the hemodynamics of patients treated with electroconvulsive shock, and the medication safety is higher. The rate of muscle pain is low and it can be used as a substitute for succinylcholine as a muscle relaxant.
