Butenafine hydrochloride belongs to the third-generation allylamine antifungal drug, which has a unique dual function of inhibiting and killing fungi. Butenafine hydrochloride can inhibit fungal squalene epoxidase activity at a lower concentration. , Fungal internal squalene accumulation and insufficient ergosterol synthesis. Squalene has a direct toxic effect on fungal cells and can cause fungi to die quickly; while ergosterol is an essential component for the formation of fungal cell membranes, insufficient ergosterol synthesis inhibits fungal growth. This dual action of butenafine hydrochloride causes the rupture of fungal cell membranes, showing strong fungicidal activity. At higher concentrations, the drug has a direct damaging effect on fungal cell membranes. Different from imidazole drugs, butenafine hydrochloride does not inhibit cytochrome P450 enzymes, and does not affect the synthesis of adrenal and gonadal hormones. Compared with traditional polyene and azole antifungal drugs, butenafine hydrochloride has the advantages of strong curative effect, small side effects, and not easy to relapse, and has a greater market demand.
