Articaine and epinephrine belong to the amide type of local anesthetics, which can block the nerve fiber conduction at the injection site, thereby exerting an anesthetic effect. It is characterized by easy diffusion in the tissue after injection, low dosage, strong anesthesia ability, fast onset, long duration, and lower toxicity than lidocaine, and avoids the occurrence of complications of conduction block anesthesia, and is suitable for local infiltration anesthesia. Studies have shown that the anesthesia effect of articaine in the pulp treatment of the elderly molars is worthy of recognition, especially in the mandibular anesthesia, the effect is better than mepivacaine. Because of its high efficiency, convenience and safety, it has gradually been widely used in oral clinics. Currently, the main products sold in the market are imported products from abroad. Articaine is the only Class B local anesthetic that is restricted to dentistry that has entered the China Medical Insurance List.
