Applications

Carboxymaltose iron injection was developed by Vifor Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of the Galenica Group. It was first listed in Germany in January 2007, and then in the UK, Switzerland, and other countries. It is indicated for iron-deficiency anemia that is ineffective or cannot be treated orally. In July 2013, the drug was approved by the FDA for marketing in the United States. At present, carboxyl maltose iron has been registered in 46 countries around the world and is officially listed in 37 countries. This product is a new type of iron complex formed by a carbohydrate shell wrapped with an iron hydroxide core. It is mainly used for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. The injection time is short and large doses can be administered intravenously. Intravenous injection of carboxymaltose can provide a new solution for patients who cannot tolerate oral iron or the treatment effect of oral iron is not good. It can effectively improve the symptoms and quality of life of IDA patients, while the adverse reactions are within the acceptable range of patients. Compared with the adverse reactions of the digestive system and circulatory system caused by oral iron, intravenous iron supplementation with carboxy maltose iron is safer; compared with iron dextran, it does not cause dextran antibody reaction and does not cause allergic reactions; and sodium iron gluconate Compared with iron sucrose, there is no clinical limit on the dosage and time of use, it is more convenient to use, and the patient's compliance is higher.
