Acotamide hydrochloride was jointly developed by Japan Zeria and Astellas, and was approved for marketing by the Japan Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) on March 25, 2013. This product is a new selective acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor. Acetylcholine is an important neurotransmitter that regulates gastrointestinal motility. Acotiamide inhibits the degradation of acetylcholine, improves impaired gastric motility and delayed gastric emptying, thus improving the symptoms of functional dyspepsia. The drug is suitable for improving postprandial abdominal distension, upper abdominal fullness and premature fullness caused by functional dyspepsia. In recent years, people’s living standards have improved day by day, but due to inadequate eating habits and other factors, more and more people suffer from gastrointestinal diseases such as stomach upset, bloating, and loss of appetite. According to statistics, the incidence of stomach diseases in my country is about 7% to 10%, and the number of patients is about 300 million, ranking first in the world.
