Cetrorelix acetate was developed by Merck Serono (Merck Serono) and was approved by EMA for marketing in Europe in April 1999. It was approved by the FDA for marketing in August 2000. It was then approved by Japan Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices in April 2006. The Comprehensive Agency (PMDA) approved the listing. Cetrorelix acetate is a third-generation gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist. The drug is suitable for preventing premature ovulation in women under controlled ovarian stimulation, facilitating subsequent egg collection and assisted reproductive technology treatment. The first and second generations of GnRH antagonists can cause mast cell degranulation and histamine release, causing obvious adverse reactions and affecting clinical applications. Compared with Ganirelix, which is also the third-generation GnRH antagonist, the single-dose cetrorelix can reduce the number of injections and is more convenient to use. At present, only the original drug of Cetrorelix Acetate for injection in China is on sale, and the competition pattern is good. Cetrorelix is recommended by relevant guidelines for assisted reproduction and has a good clinical prospect.
