Applications

As the second-generation Bcr-Abl targeted drug, it is an upgraded version of the well-known imatinib (Gleevec), which is improved from the molecular structure of imatinib, and has stronger BCR-ABL kinase activity Selectively, the inhibitory effect on tyrosine kinase is 30 times stronger than that of imatinib. It can inhibit the kinase activity of BCR-ABL mutants resistant to imatinib, and at the same time inhibit the activity of KIT and PDGFR kinases. Among the 33 new mutations that led to Gleevec resistance found in the study, nilotinib was still effective against 32. Approved by the FDA in 2007, it is currently the main choice for the treatment of patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia who are resistant or intolerant to first-line treatments (including Gleevec). Since it is still in the patent period, no generic drugs are currently on the market. With the expiration of the patent approaching, this product will be a popular product for imitation in the next few years.
