Trifluridine tepipyrimidine was approved by the US FDA on September 22, 2015, and has been approved for use in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the European Union and other countries and regions. Metastatic gastric cancer indications were approved for marketing in the United States, Japan, and the European Union in 2019. Trifluridine tepipyrimidine tablets (TAS-102) is a cytotoxic anti-tumor drug composed of thymidine analog FTD (trifluorothymidine) and thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor TPI (tepipyridine hydrochloride). The results of a number of key clinical studies have shown that TAS-102 is another safe and effective treatment option for mCRC patients who are intolerant of standard chemotherapy or who develop drug resistance.
