Iron oxyhydroxide is an iron-based, calcium-free, chewable phosphate binder. It is suitable for adult patients with chronic kidney disease and iron-deficiency anemia who are intolerant of oral iron supplementation or are not obviously dependent on dialysis. It can be used to control the serum phosphorus level of patients with chronic kidney disease after dialysis. The results of the study showed that compared with the standard care drug sevelamer carbonate, this product successfully controlled hyperphosphatemia in patients with a smaller number of pills. The approval of the drug provides a new and effective treatment option for patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis treatment to control their serum phosphorus levels.
