Cefmetazole sodium is a second-generation cephalosporin. It is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic created by Japan's Sankyo Company. It has a wide range of anti-gram-negative, positive and anaerobic effects. Cefmetazole sodium is highly resistant to β-lactamase, so it has strong antibacterial power against β-lactamase producing bacteria as well as non-β-lactamase-producing sensitive bacteria. The effect of cefazolin sodium and cefmetazole sodium for injection in preventing rectal cancer surgery site infections and medical costs showed that the total clinical effective rates of cefazolin sodium group and cefmetazole sodium group were 93.48% and 95.65%, respectively. Methazole sodium has good clinical effects. Cefmetazole sodium is highly sensitive to Klebsiella pneumoniae and ESBLS-producing Escherichia coli, and the resistance rate is significantly lower than the second, third, and fourth generation cephalosporins.
