Racecadotril is a treatment drug for acute diarrhea developed and marketed by the French company Bioprojet. Soon after it was launched, the Canadian Pediatrics Association and the Centers for Disease Control of the United States (CDC) listed racecadotril as an essential drug for the treatment of children with diarrhea. In 2011, it was also included in the recommended drugs in the China National Pediatric Diarrhea Treatment Consensus. Racecadotril is an inhibitor of enkephalinase and has a high specific antisecretory effect. It exerts its anti-diarrhea effect by inhibiting the activity of enkephalinase, thereby inhibiting the excessive secretion of water and electrolytes. Racecadotril has almost no adverse reactions common to previous anti-diarrheal drugs, and the therapeutic effect is comparable to that of the routine clinical medication loquatamine. Racecadotril has a rapid onset of action to achieve clinically significant enkephalinase activity inhibition within 30 minutes, reduces the concentration of cyclic adenosine in intestinal epithelial cells, reduces excessive intestinal secretion, and relieves intestinal emptying time There is no significant difference in the agent comparison. The 24-hour fecal output was reduced by 56%, far exceeding the WHO clinical evaluation of antidiarrheal (30%).
