Toremifene citrate is an estrogen receptor antagonist antineoplastic drug developed by Finnish Famos in 1983. Both toremifene and tamoxifen are commonly used drugs in the endocrine therapy of breast cancer, but the activity of toremifene's intermediate metabolites is improved more obviously; in terms of safety, toremifene is not easy to adduct with DNA, and its Moxifen and DNA adducts are more likely to cause adverse reactions. In addition, the study found that for Chinese breast cancer patients who are homozygous for the CYP2D6*10T/T mutation genotype, toremifene is more effective than tamoxifen. This type of mutation accounts for about one-fifth of the total population of China, which means that at least one-fifth of Chinese Han people may have a better effect on toremifene. In the process of recent research, toremifene was found to have a good inhibitory effect on Ebola virus. On November 16, 2014, the WHO recommended toremifene citrate for anti-Ebola clinical trials. Global sales of toremifene citrate in 2018 were 64.35 million yuan.
